Tropical Storm Isaias

State of Emergency

  • In order to allow Virginia to respond to the impacts of Tropical Storm Isaias, Governor Northam declared a State of Emergency on July 31. This allows our state government to better prepare and coordinate our response to the storm.  You can also read the full text of the State of Emergency here.

Utility Resources

  • Electricity - If you are experiencing a power outage, you must report it to Dominion in order for them to be aware of your situation. Please report your outage to Dominion by calling 866-366-4357 or online at www.dominionenergy.com/outages

  • Water - Please report all issues regarding your water services, including potential contamination, to Fairfax Water by calling 703-698-5613 or by using the following form: /www.fairfaxwater.org/contact-us

  • Gas - If you are experiencing issues with your gas service, please call Washington Gas at 844-927-4427. If you smell gas, leave the area immediately and then report the issue.

COVID-19 Testing at the Farmville Detention Center

  • Governor Northam has requested the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to conduct COVID-19 testing on all residents and staff at the Farmville Detention Center, located in Farmville, Virginia. The Center is experiencing a COVID-19 outbreak, and the federal government, which operates the Center, must address this serious public health concern.

Next Public Hearings on Criminal Justice Reform

  • The final joint hearing on criminal justice reform hosted by the House of Delegates’ Courts of Justice and Public Safety Committees will be August 6, from 10am-1pm. The Hearing is being held to gather input ahead of the 2020 Special Session and the 2021 Legislative Session. You can sign up to speak or offer written comments here: bit.ly/vahousecalendar.
