Neighbors,
Thanks for all you are doing to help curb the spread of COVID-19 by wearing a face mask, social distancing, and practicing good hygiene.
I strongly encourage you to check out the COVIDWISE app, which I mentioned earlier this week. The app will notify you if you have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, and it is an important new tool for us to use in addressing this public health crisis in Virginia. More information about the app and it’s privacy policies are available here.
Below are updates from the Governor Northam, state agencies, and Fairfax County regarding:

Updates from Governor Northam, state agencies, and Fairfax County
New Moratorium on Evictions
Today, the Virginia Supreme Court granted Governor Northam’s request for a statewide eviction moratorium through September 7. This will bring much needed relief to Virginia families, including many in the 42nd District. The COVID-19 pandemic will not end on September 7, so I am hopeful that further actions can be taken to protect Virginians from being evicted from their homes. You can read the Virginia Supreme Court’s opinion here.
Virginia Sales Tax Holiday
August 7-9 is Virginia's Sales Tax Holiday. During this time, you can buy qualifying school supplies, clothing, footwear, hurricane and emergency preparedness items, and Energy Star™ and WaterSense™ products without paying sales tax.

Support for Businesses and Nonprofits - Rebuild VA Grants
A reminder that applications for Rebuild Virginia grants will be accepted starting on August 10. This $70 million program for eligible small businesses and nonprofit organizations, funded by the federal CARES Act, will provide grants up to $10,000 to about 7,000 applicants whose operations have been disrupted by COVID-19. More information is available here.
Updates from Fairfax County
Absentee Ballot Application Notice
Some registered voters in Fairfax County and the City of Fairfax, as well as other jurisdictions in Virginia, received absentee ballot applications with inaccurate information from the Center for Voter Information, a nonprofit organization.
The Virginia Department of Elections, Fairfax County, and the City of Fairfax are aware of this issue. The registrars for Fairfax County and the City of Fairfax are working together to address the situation and ensure applications are directed to the correct jurisdiction.
