STATE OF EMERGENCY - GASOLINE SUPPLY
Governor Northam issued an executive order declaring a State of Emergency in Virginia relative to the gasoline supply line interruptions created by a cyber attack on the Colonial Pipeline.
The Colonial Pipeline is a major supplier for gasoline retailers in Virginia, and a prolonged voluntary shutdown of the Pipeline may affect our supply.
This executive order will allow our state and local governments to coordinate and have flexibility and funding to ensure adequate fuel supply. You can read more here.
PRICE GOUGING GUIDANCE
Price gouging during a state of emergency is illegal. You can report instances of price gouging, including high gas prices, to the Virginia Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Hotline at 1-800-552-9963 or by emailing at consumer@oag.state.va.us.
